Grumpy Grandma’s is a family owned and run business located in the Byron Bay Hinterland. We grow olives and turn them into delicious olive and extra virgin olive oil products. Our specialties are our cured olives in brine, wood smoked olives and our totally moreish semi-dried olives. Three key varieties are used across our olive range; Kalamata, Manzanillo and Hardy Mammoth. Our extra virgin olive oil is a blend of early harvested Frantoio and Koroneiki olives. Grumpy Grandma’s semi dried olives are a special product that all olive lovers will enjoy. They are a convenient way to enjoy olives as they are not kept in brine or liquid but dried, naturally flavoured and packed in small resealable containers easy to transport or throw in a handbag or lunch box.
To create Grumpy Grandma’s semi dried olives, our Kalamata olives are pitted, brined, washed and then dried for 20 hours at around 65 degrees. The olives then rest for a further 24 hours before being seasoned with quality Australian ingredients. This results in a soft, melt in your mouth, flavoursome, moreish olive.
Our Au Naturale semi dried olives are about keeping things simple, add them to any fresh salad, grazing platters, cheese boards or have them on hand for a delicious snack.
All our semi dried olives can be eaten as a snack on their own - watch out they can be quite addictive!
